In light of the exceptional political, security, and economic conditions that Libya is experiencing, along with the accumulated complexities that cast shadows over the present and future of the state, and within the framework of assuming social responsibility and engaging in the service of national issues, and at the kind invitation of the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Engineer Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, Dr. Elias Abubakr Al-Barouni, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science and Deputy for Community Service Affairs at Nalut University, met with a number of national figures, political activists, and representatives of public opinion on the evening of Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
This meeting took place in the context of consultations regarding the latest developments in the Libyan scene, where the Prime Minister gathered a select group of stakeholders in public affairs to discuss the current challenges, amid a state of political deadlock and its repercussions on the security and economic conditions in the country.
During the meeting, Dbeibah emphasized the importance of pushing for realistic and practical solutions that would end the prolonged transitional phases and pave the way for a long-awaited electoral entitlement, thereby enhancing stability, preserving the unity of institutions, and responding to the aspirations of Libyans in building a stable civil state capable of overcoming its crises.
Participants also emphasized the necessity of prioritizing the higher national interest and rejecting all forms of division and conflicts that deepen the crisis. They stressed the importance of unifying political and institutional efforts, enhancing trust, and working diligently to create a safe and transparent environment for conducting elections, ensuring a peaceful transfer of power and placing the country on a path toward stability and sustainable development.
