Participation of Nalut University in a workshop on artificial intelligence and the rights of indigenous peoples
In a step that reflects the integration of technology and cultural heritage, Professor Ramadan Youssef Askar, Director of the Libraries, Publishing, and Distribution Department at Nalut University, participated in a specialized workshop hosted by the Libyan Center for Amazigh Studies in the capital, Tripoli, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, titled:
Utilizing artificial intelligence to enhance respect for international treaties concerning the rights of indigenous peoples
The workshop featured an outstanding scientific presentation by Dr. Nasser Bouzkhar, in which he discussed how artificial intelligence can transform from merely a technical tool into an effective means of protecting identity, documenting endangered languages, and supporting compliance with international agreements that safeguard the rights of peoples to preserve their cultural privacy.
Key Topics of the Workshop:
• Digitization and Preservation: Exploring ways to benefit from artificial intelligence in archiving manuscripts and cultural heritage overseen by the library administration.
• Academic Development: Integrating modern perspectives on artificial intelligence within the strategies for scientific publishing and distribution at the university.
• Institutional cooperation: Strengthening the partnership between Nalut University and specialized research centers such as the Amazigh Studies Center.
The Nalut University continues, through its staff and administrations, to actively engage in scientific forums that address issues of identity and modernity, striving towards an academic model that keeps pace with the times while preserving its roots.
All thanks and appreciation to the organizers of this event and those who contributed to its success.
