Invitation to participate in the “Sheikh Taher Al-Zawi International Prize for the Arabic Language”

The Sheikh Tahar Zawi Charity Foundation announces the opening of nominations and participation in the Sheikh Tahar Zawi International Prize for the Arabic Language for its 2026 session.

This award, organized by the Sheikh Tahar Zawi Charitable Foundation (S.T.A.C.O), comes in recognition of the status of the Arabic language and its civilizational role, coinciding with the fortieth anniversary of the passing of the scholar and former Grand Mufti of Libya, Sheikh Tahar Zawi.

The prize value amounts to (50,000) fifty thousand Libyan dinars, in addition to a trophy.

Target groups:

The invitation is addressed to the esteemed members of the faculty, researchers, and distinguished scientific elites in the following fields:

• The distinguished academic figures who have contributed to teaching, research, and linguistic investigation.

• Innovators in the fields of localization, translation, and terminology.

• Those with outstanding achievements in serving the Arabic language and its literature in media and culture.

• Institutions and scientific councils with notable activity in supporting the Arabic language.

Terms and Criteria for Participation:

1. The submitted work must be original and has not previously been awarded any academic degree or other prize.

2. Commitment to scientific integrity and the methodology of scientific research.

3. Submitting a resume that highlights scientific contributions and distinguished positions in the service of the language.

4. Nominations are made through a recognized entity (such as universities or scientific societies).

Important Dates:

• End of the nomination period: August 27, 2026.

• Announcement of results: November 10, 2026.

• Award Ceremony: December 17, 2026 (Coinciding with the International Day of the Arabic Language).
