The auditorium of the Faculty of Medical Technology at Nalut University witnessed a special cultural celebration this Thursday morning, organized by the University Activities Administration, to mark the arrival of the new Amazigh year 2976. This initiative reflects the university's pride in its rich cultural heritage and is part of its ongoing efforts to revive national identity.

The segments of the ceremony varied to include artistic and heritage performances that embodied the depth and authenticity of Amazigh history. Several speeches were also delivered, emphasizing the importance of preserving the Amazigh identity as a fundamental pillar of the Libyan national fabric, the role of these occasions in strengthening cultural and social ties, and highlighting the heritage values for the younger generations and connecting them to their historical roots.

The celebration was marked by a wide community and cultural presence, with a diverse group of guests participating in commemorating this occasion, along with representatives from cultural and civil institutions and associations in the area, in addition to a large gathering of faculty members, staff, and students at the university.

*Comprehensive Heritage Exhibition*

Alongside the celebration, a large heritage exhibition was held showcasing various aspects of authentic Amazigh life, which included:

  • Traditional artifacts: An exhibition of a collection of pottery, hand-woven baskets, and historical household tools that were used in the region.
  • Fashion and jewelry: Showcases for traditional Amazigh clothing distinguished by its intricate embroidery, and silver jewelry that reflects the visual identity of the region.
  • Handicrafts: A special corner for various associations and institutions showcasing products from producing families, including woolen textiles and various local food products.
  • The artistic and historical wing: The exhibition included artworks that embody Libyan heritage, models of traditional houses, as well as photos and informational posters about historical figures and scholars from the Nafusa Mountains.

At the conclusion of the events, a simple horse show was held in the university courtyard, allowing attendees and students the opportunity to take commemorative photos alongside the riders and children dressed in traditional attire.

This celebration affirms that the campus is not just a place for knowledge and research, but a beacon for reviving heritage, a bridge for communication with the community, and a platform for promoting the authentic values that the region takes pride in.
